I'm a fan (and you should be too) because... Really, you wrote my intro? I am a fan...yes. But why? I don't know exactly. The music of the first three albums speaks to my soul but I found Incubus with the release of Make Yourself the 4th album(or should be 4th). I was going to an all girl catholic high school at the time and the song Out From Under became my anthem as well as Pardon Me. I hated the views of that high school and felt like no one understood me. However, it would seem that the fantastic lyricist Brandon Boyd did! He wrote about all the things that bothered me about our zombified somnambulist society. Of course, at the young age of 14 I had to look of the meaning of somnambulist(sleep walking). And there it was! Someone who understood that I was surrounded by sheep! If I questioned my teachers they would scold me, "knowing this why do I defy? Because my inner voice is yelling!" I couldn't help but ask to try and understand. How come I can't question the curriculum? Why is it that every girl at my school wanted a boyfriend more than they wanted to know and understand themselves? Could it be that my peers are trying to find anything and everything to distract them from their pain? Whereas, "I forgot to remember my pain." I was much more focused on studying myself and the world around me then I was interested in boys. Especially, when those boys never wanted to know the thoughts inside my head. "I figured I'd find another with the same attitude, yes, then I could talk to someone other than myself." It still has yet to happen. So here I am an anomaly. I make no sense at all! I had friends but they would rarely ever want to discuss our society at hand. I turned to Incubus as my only true friend. Wow, I sound lame. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am a fan but not for the same reasons as most. I am a fan because...

Mike is fantastic at creating two part guitar harmonies using pedals.
Jose is a ballet dancer and a fantastic drumming machine as well as a karate kid.
Dirk(Alex) is amazing at slap bass but a total ass whole when I met him(he is not why I am a fan).
Kilmore is hysterical and a dj battling master who murdered dj Life(who know goes by dj death).
Ben Kenny is the coolest cat I have ever seen perform live. He won me over at the Roxy with Time Lapse Consortium as well as the fact that he was a fantastical part of the roots.

So these are some of the reasons I dig Incubus. Now if only I could go back in time and prevent them from gaining so much success leaving me an opportunity to talk to them at their shows and make them my new found fantastical friends!
