It started with my 10th birthday... the film Little Nicky came out and I liked the music so much that I got the soundtrack for my birthday! The soundtrack had Pardon Me on it, and it was my favorite song on the album. Before then, I really had no taste in music because the radio was all I was offered, but from then on i experimented with different music. After a while, I had realized that some of the "radio" songs that I had loved were actually Incubus songs(Wish You Were Here, Stellar, and Drive). After this epiphany, I decided to see what I was missing, and went and bought A Crow Left of the Murder. This was my first Incubus album and probably still is my favorite to this day. When the full effect of A Crow Left of the Murder sank in, I immediately spent my measly 15 year old life savings on Make Yourself, Morning View, S.C.I.E.N.C.E., and Enjoy Incubus. Ever song ended up growing on me until my entire life was swamped with Incubus. The singing, the melody, the guitar, the bass, the drums, the turntables all fell into place for me and nothing can even attempt to re-create the feelings that Incubus has flushed through me. I think what sets them apart is that they actually do what they do very well. It's not about looking good, or dancing, or anything related to "the industry" rather than Brandon singing and writing lyrics, Mike developing his guitar skills and applying them in ways others haven't, Ben showing the world that a bass player truly can be a huge inspiration in a band, Jose laying everything out on drums, and all topped off with my favorite addition, Kilmore and the turntables, making the puzzle complete and allowing people all over the world to hear and understand what dedication and the love for music is all about.
Mr. Ben Kenney on the Bass
Just like the 07 cleveland show, incubus delivered... again.. It was incredible! i brought my girlfriend this time since she recently discovered her love for incubus, and since she's on the shorter side, we stayed back out of the mayhem so that she could see, and all i gotta say is that it was just as powerful, just as high energy as being right in the middle of the crowd!
would just like to point out, as i am a bassist myself... when i heard redefine and a certain shade of green back to back, with Ben playin slap bass showing everyone how its done... i pretty much peed all over my girlfriends butt....
at that point in time, i lost everything that was keeping me sane, thank you ben kenney, i want your autograph, and i want to have your kids... yes im a guy and i cant help it
