Lyrics
I'd really love to see official lyrics posted in the Vault!
I've been looking for lyrics to You Will Be a Hot Dancer, but so far I haven't found any I've trusted to be anything than what someone has transcribed and therefore find varying lyrics on different sites. I specifically want to know if it's "Let's get this mama duke naked!" or "Let's get this marmaduke naked!"

Totally! I would try to figure out the S.C.I.E.N.C.E lyrics and then just have to give up. Actually, that's the reason I started to try and find lyrics on-line in the first place.

haha! I know what you mean. I think in the Look Alive dvd he does that with paper shoes and you can see people in the audience singing it the way it is on the cd.
with S.C.I.E.N.C.E. I loved Redefine, New Skin and Glass so much I had to learn the words! but it wasn't easy with New Skin.

LOL i concur with science. i just would sing along to what i thought they were saying until i got curious enough to actually see what they were saying.
i love it when i was at the concert that i would sing a correct lyric, but brandon would change it up and everyone would look @ me funny. i'm like, uh no. that's the right lyric, brandon f***ed up xD

See, he can't do that to confused people like me! haha! Do you know how often I sing a lyric of what I think the person is saying and then months later I find out I had been singing it wrong the whole time?! lol
When I first heard Echo, I thought he was saying - the obvious fear will be the rescue of me. Then I read the sleeve and was like- DUH!! So much more powerful with the right words! LOL And forget S.C.I.E.N.C.E! Until I found out the real words I was just singing whatever! haha!

mhm, i think he probably just added it in. most of the time, artists will record multiple times and which ever version they like the best gets added onto the cd, so maybe they liked the sound of his voice and decided to disregard the mistake?

Or could be he wrote it to be sung as only one" improved" but changed it when he recorded - could be that happens sometimes and they just chalk it up to artistic license maybe?

Jackie, when I listened to the song it sounds like he's saying "there are times when I feel improved, improved upon the past". So sounds like the sleeve is mostly right and he just doubled up to make the lyric match the music better. As far as I can tell, anyway.

yeah, kels...you're right, because some of the lyrics on the sleeves look hand written. I trust the sleeves more than I trust what's online. But in the Make Yourself one, I always thought the lyrics in there for Nowhere fast were different too. Maybe I'm not hearing it right, I thought he says: And there are times when I feel the good improved upon the past. The sleeve says: And there are time when I feel improved upon the past. Anyone know? It sounds to me like he saying something before...improved upon the past.

mhm, i'm the one that asked about that lyric (: really cool, we concluded that it was probably an earlier version of the song that got re-written. and i agree, i trust the sleeves more than the lyric sites, but i'll look up lyrics if i don't have the CD on hand.

If you look at some of the lyrics on the sleeves, a couple aren't the same as the song either. Like in Drive...isn't there a line in the lyrics on the sleeve that isn't in the song?

fungus has no lyrics on the inside. it is only like 2 pages, really thr only thing inside is a letter saying this was their first album and the sound is raw
So if all these albums have lyrics, I wonder why it's so hard for the sites to have the lyrics the same or even right? Too cheap to actually by the albums and are just trying to get the lyrics by listening to the songs on youtube or something?

And I don't even know how you would get a hold of a copy of Fungus anymore to check to see if it has lyrics. Someone on the forum maybe has a copy and maybe would be nice enough to check it out? If it doesn't have lyrics on the liner then not sure what you'll do...

The lyrics are provided by Gracenote and in their Terms of Service they state "Gracenote, and its suppliers make no representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy of any Lyric."
I refer to this website, because it's their "official" one. Though that doesn't prove the validity of the lyrics. Lol.

I don't think those are from the band though, Leah. There are a couple places on a couple songs where it says (incomprehensible) and I think that if the lyrics were from Brandon, he would know what he wrote - I would hope so anyway. I don't have any actual albums other than Monument and Melodies, but did they ever print lyrics on the albums?

It's really hard to find the lyrics, it's so common that they're different from site to site. However, I always thought it was marmaduke and have seen it on a couple differernt lyric sites.
