Reviews for this Album

This CD is the best in my opinion!
I love oil and water... This music can really touch me...

I think this album took them to a higher level of amazing sounds, melodies, lyrics, and imagination. This whole album has a sort of high, euphoric feeling. Quicksand and kiss to send us off are perfect for the intro. I don't have a favorite song cuz they're all my favorite. Rogues is at the top of my list though.

This is an excellent album, I love it!!!!!!!!!! great stuff!!
I love anna molly, but i don't have any fav, it's to hard to pick. Siiiick stuff! Incubus is the BEST!!!!!!!!!

Icubus is a very intelligent band and this is
my favorit album ever.
My favorit band ever.

.
The album starts with a metaphysic of existence. It ends with a funeral.

"Quicksand" is in a meter it would be an oversimplification to describe as 17-part. "Earth to Bella (Part II)" amplifies its dissipation in polyphony.

And it's all so much fun. This is rock 'n' roll!
.

P.S. Jose Pasillas rocks my socks.

I love incubus. I'm a big fan. I love their style, arrangement and Brandon's voice! The things I've mentioned are like ingredients to an exotic food. They had a concert here in the Philippines but i never had an opportunity to watch them because my parents did not allow me to buy a ticket. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward for their next concert tour for Monuments and Melodies! Smiling)

After this new cd "Monuments and Melodies" (more like recopiliaton) and after listening "black heart inertia" lots of time a'm very excited to see again the oportunitie of incubus coming back to CHILE when they first came here i was sinceritly criyng in the concert listening to my favourites songs like, warning, drive, favourite things, stellar, and so much more..
please find out when they are coming here, looking foward to hear from you.. sorry about my english i'm chilean =)

Vuelvan a MExicooo..!! por Razones mayores no pude ir al concierto y casi muero..!!!
Cuando Voolvern probablemente?

Just Awesome!!!
New sound and direction - totally addictive! Quiksand/Kiss/Rogues/AnnaMolly/Pendulous are my kick-ass favs, with the other tracks close behind (except for Earth to Bella I & II - sorry guys, guess everyone has a "bad" one now and then - no offense to anyone lol!!!).
So looking foward to the new release and concert 8/5!!!

Huge fan for long time and this album just comfirms my beliefs, they have it going on.

The CD is different, like every CD they've come out with. They have their style but evolve within themselves. "Light Grenades" is mature and heartfelt and I enjoy it greatly. You still inspire.

kessa lvs incubus

To me this album landed very differently on my ears than any of the previous ones. And thats a good thing, seriously. However, I just wasnt feelin it as much as I hoped to. It got a like to eclectic towards the end. I understand that music must evolve but sometimes I just want a little of the stuff that made me such a die hard fan to come back and make an appearance everyonce and a while. Dont get me wrong I'm not bashing this album one bit, hey I gave it five stars for songs like Dig, Anna Molly and Earth to Bella. But on the whole I really enjoyed this album and thank you Incubs for putting out another great addition for my collection....

p.s.
Incubus cds are the only ones that I still buy! *GASP!* lol o well.

loved the album...definitely not the greatest but extremely good

Thank you Incubus for making such great music. I feel honored to be alive in your music era. See you in SD!!

What more is there to say...a definite classic to add to the already spectacular music!

I really love incubus. when are you guys going to come here again in the Philipines. I really miss you guys.. rock on!

The 06 album together with the xmas video is the cutest thing around internet, except for 'Rudo y Cursi´s' hit...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E8ownI7nh8&feature=related ( sofisticated version of the following master piece http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9GOc24aATo&feature=related ). i will only change my mind if you come to Europe...will you be able to sleep now?

Great album from start to finish. I enjoy every single song, but my fav is "Oil and Water." I love everything this band has done so far, can't wait for more. They've got so much to offer its amazing! They make it so easy for me to love them, that won't ever change. Light Grenades, awesome, thank you

Greetings from Southern Indiana. Smiling

I have been a fan since seventh grade. So...about seven years? Maybe...?
Sure. Sounds good to me.

I think Light Grenades is one of the reasons why I love Incubus so much. Like I said, I've been a fan for a long time. I have every album, every dvd, have every lyric memorized like the gospel, and so on.

Given that I've been a fan for such a long time, I'm comfortable with the fact that Incubus has progressed they way they have from Fungus Amongus to Light Grenades. To be honest, I don't think I would be so crazy about them if they ALWAYS did the same thing over and over and over again.

I think this new album is wonderful. I dig the way it flows from song to song. It's infused with songs like Rogues that have this raw, barbaric energy that makes me nostalgic and reminds me of why I fell in love with them in the first place.

Anyway, I think that everyone has their Desert Island Top Five All Time Favorite Albums list.
The ones that you listen to in your beat up Oldsmobile** at full volume with the windows rolled down so everyone who's stopped next to you at a stop light can hear it, whether they want to or not. This one is on my Desert Island list. Along with A Crow Left of the Murder.

I'm not disappointed at all. These guys are the only guys I know that have never let me down. Smiling
They always deliver.

-Katie

**Note:: Yes I do drive an Oldsmobile. And for some reason it has a trailer hitch. What was the previous owner of my beloved Gretta the Olds trying to hitch? One can only imagine.

all the songs are amazing... it's impossible choose a favorite one

hello there tnx for accepting me ihr...........
incubus rules ...

With my head lowered, I sadly admit I don't know that much about Incubus. But, I keep hearing this song playing over and over on the radio during my uneventful morning commute. So, one day, I paid attention.

I have to say, that all the advice, all the explanation, all the therapy, all the f***ing convincing, all the apologies I have heard in the last 10 years, nothing has answered my wondering mind quite like this poem.

Every syllable combined explains it all for me. So, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can now forgive. What a f***ing liberating feeling.

AAM

First on the Album itself, my interpertation(and I am sure many others as well) is that it's telling a story of relationships, whether friends or soemthing more and all of the trials and tribulations that come with the aforementioned. It has ups and downs and twists and turns and I feel like it shows many different musical styles that these guys can dish out. Now for a track by track analysis we turn to Billy Mayes, the crazy bearded infomercial guy.......

1. Qucksand- To me this song is like the narrative at the beginning of a movie......alluding to what is to come.

2. A Kiss To Send Us Off-This song rocks, it makes me think of a personw ho sees a relationship or the potential for one with soemoen who might not see the same for whatever reason and jsut wants them to take the chance to see it or jump in with them before it is too latel......

3. Dig-A BEAUTIFUL song, no other way to describe it, one fo the greatest things about this band is that each song has a meaning that may be very specific for Brandon and the gang, but is vague enough for each listener to have their own interpertaion and feel right on. To me this is about a relationship with soemone who no matter what will be there for you through good times and bad, someone who can keep you grounded and never let you lose who you are, someone that no matter what will be at your side....when everything else is gone.

4. Anna Molly-This son is almost the exact opposite to the previous, the music is incredible and is highlyqa ddictive, but the message is depressing to me, it describes a girl (to me) that cannot be figured out no matter how hard you try and it feels very angst filled witht eh fact that there is almost nothing that can be done about this because you can not have controlover the other person and her anomolies.

5. Love Hurts-This song just makes me think of love in general and is dead on, it hurts a lot, but the good times make the risk worth the reward.

6. Light Grenades-Defintley a changeup in the style of the album, keeping with the theme of the album, I envision a fight ina relationship and someone stepping outside of the disagreement and looking in saying"Hey, let's be constructive about this, and think of ideas to resolve the issue as opposed to lashing out irrationally."/

7. Earth to Bella Pt. 1-Definitle seen as a cautionary tale to me, to those who settle on anything in life, ecspecially relationships, there are many who feel content and are not fearless enough to break away from whatever is holding them back and be afraid to sink so to speak to see what truly amkes them happy.

8. Oil and Water-I think this is an extension of the last song, someone realizing that they are not happy where they are and calling the relationship for what it is, two very different people who may not have a distate for each other, but do not have the foundation for something truly great.

9. Diamonds & Coal-Feels like an apology from someone who broke off a relationship, maybe even for dragging it out beyond what it should have been. The person would rather be alone then go throught he motions of what was happenign with sig. other.

10. Rogues-The only song that seems like it breaks away formt he theme a little, but I absolutley love it! Highly addictive, but I think it can even stick with the theme in that it is praising people that don't settle for whatever comes their way and strive for soemthing better. People welling to go outside of conventional wisbom and evolve into something enw and better.

11. Diamonds & Coal-I think this song jsut says plain and simple that just becaus eyou may fight with soemone doesn't mean they are not right for you, no relationship is perfect and if the fundamentals of love are there, then it is worth fighting for.

12. Pendulous Threads-This song in the beginning of it makes me think of someones thoughts swirling chaotically through theirm mind unable to be put into words, and then all of the sudden culminates into this song and comes out with the person sayin what they think needs to be said, which I think is make a decision stay put, or come see what you're capable of.

13. Earth to Bella Pt2-A reitteration fo the cautionary tale, almost as if the person is calling out knowing that it is to late for perosn in question, but the other person is still trying to show them the light.......very sad.

Well thats what I think about that...

-Brandon W.

"It ain't easy being sleazy"

Its a Book full with expression melodies, lyrics, freedom, life, love, .... and more
i just think that people must be true to themselves and never change what they think or want, and discover their purpose in this earth....
I believe each member of incubus has found that, and keeps adding things to their own list..
result
MORE THAT JUST AN ALBUM ...

I cant stop listening to the songs, and find more and more details and beauty to the MASTER PIECE of Expression!

this album just shows how much they have improved as musicians and artists. those are some great melodies and lyrics, a little different from what's usual from incubus, but still as amazing as the rest of their material.
it's hard with anna molly, light granades, rogues and pendulous threads, and beautiful with dig, quicksand, love hurts.
great album from a great band.

This may be my favorite Incubus disc made, yes even more so then Morning View. To be honest this album feels like one of the best albums put together from any artist. More than a few of my favorite songs have come off this album, and the touring for this album was amazing show after amazing show. You guys just keep getting better, keep em coming!

Actually this album has been a really slow burn for me, from barely smouldering to flaming white hot over the last year or so.
Right now "Rogues" is my favourite track, for no other reason than I can't get the damn tune out of my bloody head!!! (Its more addictive than wheatgerm and veggie super juices and believe me those concoctions are good enough to make you give up solid food for life - even chocolate!! hee hee - oh dear, that was a silly thing to say, I could really go for one of those right now but its late and all the shops are shut :-[ )
Stupid thing is I still haven't worked out what Brandon's actually singing! I just love what the rest of the band, together with the vocal melodic structure, are doing so much that I don't really care what the actual lyrics are Sticking out tongue.
