THE GOOD THE BAD THE GREATEST TIME OF MY LIFE!
I went to their suprise concert @ the Echoplex (Check out my footage @ www.youtube.com/KAECOBRA) I waited hours "in heels" then got in, one word [[AMAZING]]. It's pretty werid cuz you all say you waited for 6 hours to get in and didn't and people were cutting, well I was in the front and there was no crazy stampede but hopefully soon you will be reuntied with Incubus. Today (06/23/09) I won tickets on the radio for the Incu-bus pre party bus to see them in action 07/10/09 in SB, CA thx 98.7

INCUBUS LOVER 86
Total Mayhem..I left..
I got there at 9pm (stupid work) the line was ridiculous and there was a bottleneck at the front of the line. I sat parked across the street hoping for some kind of order, but it was just a mess so I left after about a half hour or so.
I have tickets for Vegas and Hollywood Bowl, but I'm still a little bummed.
Guys please don't blame the band, it's not their fault. By the looks of it, it was s***ty organization on behalf of the club.
But may I make this suggestion to Incubus, based on a past show at a small venue I've seen Incubus play..
About 3 years ago they did Nissan Livesets. They sent an email out and the first I think it was like 200 people to reply to the email got on the list. When I arrived at the studio, I provided my ID, they gave me a wristband I got in line and everything was chill. Nobody cut in line, everyone was just hanging out, then in a single line they escorted everyone into the studio.
Granted this was a soundstage and not a club, but still if they presented it as a contest with a pre-made list with names of winners already on it, they could probably avoid the problems they had last night.
But again, for the people that didn't get in, please don't blame the band. Anyone that's been a fan of Incubus for a while knows how generous and kind they are to their fans, and the last thing they would want is to leave any of us disappointed.
--
If I hadn't assembled myself, I'd have fallen apart by now..
Awesome...
You guy's are so thoughtful, creative, inspiring, spontaneous,, and all around wonderful! I live in Michigan so I don't think I'll be making the show!
But everyone else enjoy! I hope you all know that these guys don't have to do this s***! I love you Brandon, Mike, Jose, Chris, and Ben!
Are you kidding me?
Unless you live on the East Coast, like I do, you don't know what unfair is aces8181. It was a surprise show at a smaller venue. Did you really think that everyone would get in? And if you're willing to blame the band for something they couldn't control, then you're really not a true fan. So you know what? You should sell your tickets. Sell them to people much more deserving and truly like Incubus for everything they have done over the past 18 years. This is a site for people who love Incubus and everything they stand for...no one wants to hear the bull s***.

I GOT BOOTY FOR WAITING IN LINE!
I been dating this girl and she loves Incubus.
So I took a buddy with me to go stand in line and purchase some tix. I had to bring a buddy because she got off work at 8pm and you could only purchase one ticket per person (A true wing man... he stood in line with me so I could get some tail).
So after a few cuts here and there I was able to get 2 tix. (SORRY, DIDN'T MEAN TO BE A D*CK, BUT EVERYONE WAS DOING IT. I WASN'T ABOUT TO LET SOME CUTTING A-HOLE(S) GET IN BEFORE ME AFTER I STOOD IN LINE FOR 3 HOURS AND JEOPORDIZE MY "MASTER BOOTY PLAN." HELL NO! YOU GOTTA MAKE MOVES PEOPLE!)
Anyway, I really like Incubus' music, but I'm not that big of a fan to stand in line for 3 1/2 hours... but I am a HUGE fan of the "lovely lady lumps."
Needless to say, after watching the show, I was in the presence of great music and the band f'ing rocks and "Boyd Wonder" is a Stud! Incubus is really good... I'm more of a hip hop fan anyway but they do drop some sick ass bass riffs and drum beats. And I did become a bigger fan for sure! Kudos!
And yes... lmao... mission accomplished. I GOT SOME BOOTY!
Thanks Incubus! LA got mad Love for you fellas.
WORTH IT!!!
I have loved Incubus for the past ten years, but because of my age(19) I hav'nt been able to see them live except a couple times! So I received this e-mail and I knew I had to go, I called a friend to come with. We arrived around 3:30 ish and luckily ran into the line under the bridge in glendale. We were stuck in this horrible hybrid of people, sweat, heat, etc for four grueling hours!! It only got worse as time went on. The echoplex security really screwed things over they weren't sure on the times and it was a weird waiting process where my ribs were crushed. Then to make matters worse right when we approached the front security started telling people it was sold out!!! I almost died, people started freaking out, and they were telling a group (who cutted) to go back so at this point we have a mass heard behind us shoving forward and a massive crowd in front pushing back, I swear I thought I saw my life flash before my eyes. So while one security guy is telling everyone to go home, another is letting people through! I finally got in but I lost my friend in the mayhem, one of the managers of the club was nice enough to pull her out of the abyss and take us to the club! Once inside we took a seat when we ran into Mclovin (christopher mintz-plauss?) it was so awoesome we were in the midtz of the crowd and incubus rocked out some of the best of the oldies, it was mike's b-day and the crowd attempted to sing happy birthday. This is by far one of the best incubus performances ever!!! Once it was over we waited for the mass to leave and we saw all of the band members drive off, cept for chris he was extremely kind enough to talk to us and take a picture with those outside:)! I had the best night of my life! My heart goes out to those who were not able to get in, but as some others have posted it was not the band's fault, security really did us over. Had they followed the details that the band gave it would have gone over a lot smoother. For those who missed out the set list was as follows redifine, new skin, a certain shade of green, privilege, make yourself, nice to know you, 11 am, anna molly, punch drunk, rogues, look alive, black heart inertia ( way better live), and let's go crazy. Incubus you rock my sox and I look forward to seeing you at the bowl and at chula vista!!! One satisfied fan!!
This show was SAH_WEEET!!
So yeah, got to the place about 3pm. Already lots of people hanging out doing the 5:00pm countdown across the busy Glendale Blvd. and some gathered under the bridge. I'll skip the timeline of events since it's been told by others. 1st stampede was when the group across the street was brought over by a security guard and led to the front of the "under the bridge group". Man... 2nd stampede was when they gave the green light to officially lineup. Mayhem... 3rd stampede was when people were getting their wristbands and paying, then running to get a good spot inside! Ahhh!!! LOL
But what's to be expected? This is INCUBUS!!
With this kind of setup and last minute notice, you can't expect people to be courteous and considerate. We all felt like we were hanging on by a thin thread. "Will I or won't I?" It's almost like a life and death situation. You do what you have to do. I have to say from my 6 hour wait and people watching (I went alone) I didn't notice any extreme acts of disrespect or insanity. During the wait before the official line, people stuck around the front of the pack instead of making their way to the back . Hey, why not. All's fair. BUT, as soon as the official line was created people had no chance of cutting or wondering their way to the front. Some tried but were shamelessly booed and sent on their way. Now that's how you do it. LOL
I got a great spot only 2 people away from the front and rocked out! Unbelievable to see them at such a small venue. I had the time of my LIFE!!!
the show
last nite was rediculously amazing. i havent had this much fun in a long time... as for the line.. i dont understand why they didnt just let people line up . i talked to a few of the people in nearby businesses and nobody seemed to complain about lines.. horribly handled by the echoplex staff, so dont blame the band. as for the huge wad of people crossing the street at one point, we got there really early, when i got there it was only like 30 ppl in line. we were told to go across the street. so later in the day the head security said we deserve the front of the line and he escorted us across the street. heres the setlist taken from a youtube comment.
Redefine (original), New Skin (original), ACSOG (original), Privilege, Make Yourself, Nice to Know You, 11 am, Anna Molly, Punch Drunk, Rogues, Look Alive, Black Heart INertia, Let's go crazy
--
look alive
sigh!
This was awesome for incubus to announce their appearance at such a small venue. My only problem was the unorganized chaos that evolved. There were a lot of honest people who patiently waited in line for six hours to be turned away in the end, and a group of other people who rudely cut at the front of the line got right in. Who wouldn't be upset, I know i was. The echoplex should've had way more security and been outside since five to say which was the official line. sigh, incubus was worth a try though. Hopefully i will get my chance to see them live soon.
anyone!!!
could someone tell me what songs they played!!??? jiji I´m so unlucky that I´m not gonna be able to see them in this tour T-T so could you tell me what songs they play... just so I know jiji
AWESOME!
The show was awesome, i showed up at 8:45 from San Diego and the security loved me so they put me in the second group! (after saying they were sold out). Started with Redefine, New Skin, and A Certain Shade of Green and ROCKED them all!! I got to the front by starting some moshin' and movin'. It's great to see Incubus play a small venue on the small stage--reminds me of earlier times : ) Can't wait for the San Diego show on my 21st birthday!!!
Thank you Incubus
I would like to start off by thanking Incubus for such a good show at such a small venue. I have seen Incubus close to 15 times, and this was one of the best! Keep on doing what you do, you guys are awesome!
Next I would like to address some of these people who are saying horrible things about the event. I think you are totally wrong to place the blame on the band and then try to threaten that you want to sell your tickets. I am right there with you when it comes to the people cutting in line, but that is not the bands fault. This is exactly what is wrong with society today. We know the difference between right and wrong, and many of those people openly chose wrong.
The only thing that truly disappointed me last night was the caliber of fan that came out to the show. And now those of you who choose to look a gift horse in the mouth and complain. If all you are going to do is complain, stay home.
Cheers, Incubus!! I will see you in a few weeks.
Why??
Why would incubus do a surprise show? I have only heard of one other major band do this and that was Metallica at SBSW in Austin. Any clues? Spring more interest in the new album? I don't think it even hit top 200 on Billboards.
Did anyone get in? Don't blame Incubus blame their manager.
Sucked A**
After waiting in line for hours, just to be turned down and not let in totally sucked ass!
What a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!
How did the show go and what did they play??
Curious how the show went and what the set list was?
IF ONLY YOU GUYS COULD DO THESE SURPRISE SHOWS IN THE NYC AREA.....
AHH............ A girl can dream, can't she???????????
Love,
Melanie

Chaotic mess and a 6hr wait to get in
drove up from San Diego to see the show, got there early for the 5pm lineup, only to be told at 5:30 we were in the wrong line (at the Sunset address) Droves of people ran across Sunset stopping cars and took the stairs down to Glendale Blvd, where many more people were lined up. Security said they were going to send cutters to the back of the line...that didn't happen...then said doors open at 7pm for the 10pm show, but that didn't happen...Then they said 8pm...no dice... more and more people cutting in line...Security kept telling us to go home, we were not getting in, etc, etc...Half the people listened and left, and the other half stayed put...I stayed put until we got called in at 10:30pm half an hour into it already....Show ended around 11:15 with no encores...
Thanks to the hippie in the black flag shirt who was selling cans of Tecate on the street while we waited...It got me through it!
Huge Disaster!!!
So i end up waiting for hours to not get in. There was no "true" line to begin with. Everyone had to wait under the bridge or across the street. And when it was time to go in a f***en stampede of people end up running and pushing trying to get in. Of course I did not get in. A big waste of f***en time!!! I drove from Redlands to L.A. only to get stuck in traffic in the end!! Thanks Incubus and to everyone else who set up this disaster.. I have tickets to see them in July and and looking to sell them because of this mess!!!!! This is not how people should be treated when it comes to see a suprise concert. Yea it was a surprise, a surprise to get f***en ran over by a lot of people....
.
SADNESS
This was madness! so there is the Echo 1822 Sunset Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90026 and the EchoPlex 1154 Glendale Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90026...there were 2 lines people running from one place to the next...people cutting and just pushing themselves to the front of the line. I stood in line for 6 hours and didnt get in ='( saddest day of my life!!!
