Light grenades really shine..!
I'm a great fan of Incubus and morning view is my fav album. Light grenades is also very close to my taste...the lyrical contents and the vibe of the music gives me a kind of fresh air to the journey of Incubus. I really like Kiss to send us off ! and of course Love hurts really moves me...Is there a spell that I'm under : )
Hope to see you guys one day in North East part of India.

anybody who says that there new cd was not awesome listen to it once more and dont compare it to anything eles its not made to sound like the others its a beautiful album.
My Take On Things...
My first Exposure to Incubus was "Drive" off of Make Yourself, back in 2000, and I quickly fell in love with the Entire "Morning View" album shortly after in 2001. I then went out and bought every album I could get my hands on. I was really impressed with how Incubus had progressed as a band, and how they continued to show ingenuity and creativity in each of their albums. I grew to love each album in its own way.
Enjoy was a great high energy album, showing the free outlook and apathy of a young band. S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was also a highly energetic album with great lyrics and awesome bass lines. Make Yourself seemed a little more mainstream, but was a great way of showcasing the individual talents of each member of the band. Then came Morning View, a wholly beautiful album, Again showing a further progression in musical talent. What impressed me most about Morning View was how each band member was able to work in Harmony with the mood of each song, adding in their individual accents to the music. Then came A Crow Left Of the Murder, I have to admit, this one took me a little to get used to , but I now view it as a great album. It showed a slightly altered style in Incubus, a little darker at points, as well as deep meaningful lyrics.
Then came Light Grenades. And let me say first off, I really wanted to like this album, really. I was hoping for something truly inspiring. I was the first to tell all my friends about Anna Molly when I first heard it on the radio. I went out and bought the album when it came out, and eagerly loaded it on to my iPod. The first listen through was a little rough. Whenever I buy a new album I try to listen to it as a whole a few times to get a feel for the mood of the album. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, seeing as it took me 3 or 4 listen through before I began to truly enjoy A Crow Left Of The Murder, so I listened a few more times through the whole album, I began to pick out little things about the album that I enjoyed, and thought were really cool, a lot of the guitar work, drumbeats were interesting. As a whole, however the album lacked the cohesion of all the previous albums. The lyrics seemed jumbled, not necessarily uninspired, just not thought through. I appreciate the band exploring different ideas as they grow musically, and I accept this album as legitimate, I just won't necessarily list it as one of my favorites. I eagerly look forward to the next album with excitement, hoping for an even further refinement of technique and creativity.
i salute!
-- nothing seems different from the past album they made (coz your songs guys is really fantastic). but the only significant is they're really truely made the best songs ever since the world began

Learn to live life to your fullest extent...
I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...I believe in living, breathing, experiencing, enjoying life to it's fullest extent outside the mind. I enjoy abstract, ecclectic, exstrensic artwork. I'm a fanatic for Alternative Rock music, BodyArt, and Sunbathing....Also, I love all of Incubus' songs. I've been a fan of Incubus since summer of 2002. Not long, but that was the year I experienced 'clarity of the mind' and it just so happened that while I was on my new venture of "enlightenment" I saw the video "Warning" and it made since to me back then. "Wow! Here's a group that actually reaches out to the world with genuine meaning of life..."

An album of LOVE :D
I've been with Incubus since my cousin left Make Yourself in my computer's disc drive one summer. I enjoy listening to bands evolve and mature, and Incubus has kept me quite satisfied over the years.
Essentially, from a musician's point of view, Incubus' sound has come into maturity without loosing what kept me captivated from my first exposure. Their still experimenting, still bringing the thunder, still making me think and inspiring me to do. But this album has an atmosphere like none other they've created. The compositions aren't necessarily intricate, but they are complete and satisfying.
Looking through the credits while listening, I noticed that they were bringing more to the table as musicians, as well. Instruments of which I'd never even heard were being brought into play, and everyone contributed lyrically. I don't know if it's true, but I felt like everyone put something into the music in ways they've never done before.
I also felt it was put together well. Much like Make Yourself, this album seems to have an overarching theme; it's like a story. The opening track Quicksand and the intermediate Earth to Bella basically define the album lyrically, and Earth to Bella Part 2 offers a perfect closing (I'd like to die to this song). Dig, Oil and Water, and Love Hurts are some of the most mind-blowing songs this band has put together, compositionally. A Kiss to Send Us Off, Rogues, Light Grenades, and Pendulous Threads keep the album rooted in that good, old-fashioned, Incubus-induced chaotic musical rebellion we've all grown to love. Anna Molly offers the same energy as a single as Megalomaniac did for A Crow Left of the Murder. Paper Shoes won my heart with its captivating acoustic progression and nine bar phrase. Diamonds and Coal stands apart from the rest of the songs, in my mind. It's like nothing else the band has put together before.
There's not one song on this album I can say I dislike.
All that said, I don't think this album is for everyone. If you're a fan of "old-skool" Incubus, you'll have to evolve/expand your tastes to fully enjoy the album. The old Incubus is in here, if you know how to listen for it, but there's a lot of new over all that old, and it's a matter of embracing it.
5/5

This album, although not being my favourite, still rocks. The sound kinda steers away from Incubus' original style; but I have to admit, they are maturing in their sound as experience builds. Brandon's voice is still as passionate as ever, Chris, Mike, Jose and Ben have such huge ambition and unbelievable talent; all of which are an utter inspiration to anyone who strives to make music meaningful.
I love the guitar techniques in this album too; learning them was a lot of fun for me, and I never get tired of playing along with/singing along to "Dig".
This album is a mixture of ambience, mystery, and unpredictable change; it's refreshing to hear something unlike anything else in music today.

Not Too Crazy About It
I have loved all of Incubus's work to date, but I have to say I am not crazy about Light Grenades. I LOVE the songs Dig and Anna Molly, because they sound very much like the Incubus I am used to. I guess I should say I do not like any kind of wavering of styles with any band, so maybe that's why I feel the way I do. With Light Grenades, Incubus has seemed to do what a lot of other awesome rock bands have done, which is after they establish a sound and style and the fans love it, they do some experimenting, and the change isn't really a good thing. I have always been a sucker for rock alternative music that knows how to rock your face off. And so many of your old songs do that for me. Incubus has always had a unique sound, but it was a good unique. Incubus: your previous albums, especially Morning View, Make Yourself, and S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and A Crow Left of the Murder are awesome, and I would like to hear more of that! It doesn't get old, I promise! I still listen to Light Grenades every so often, mostly out of my undying devotion to 5 quality musicians.
ii
I don't want to rate it. Rating music doesn't quite work for me, so i'll just show my appreciation through words and let others deal with the quantifications. the first album i heard was S.C.I.E.N.C.E and it was through my older brother, i guess i was about 12 or 13, going through some tough times and searching for an escape. I liked it then, and i kept on listening to the band, and though Incubus was not on my top list of favourite bands then, it always stuck around. as i got older and kept on falling back to your albuns i kept on discovering new layers. listening to you over the years has become adictive and so pleasurable. there are unexplainable reasons to why we love what we love or to why we connect so deeply to some things and to others not so much, so i'm not even going to try to put it into words. i have connected with all of you and i still feel new and wonderfull things everytime i listen to you, so i would say we share something, a line of thinking perhaps, a way to face the world that has kept me coming back for more everytime and enjoying what you create. (well, i guess i have just tried to do what i said i wouldn't) thank you for allowing me to watch you grow and for allowing me to grow with your music as the background. it's lovely.
What I think......
Truly Incubus has to be one of the best bands ever.....I love the album Light Grenades and especially the songs Rouges and Pendulous Threads......and then Oil and Water and Diamonds and Coal really sort of bump them out of place....but still there is something about Morning View that catches my ear drums....but anyway....Brandon Boyd is amazing, his singing is crazy s***...and the rest of the band that makes the rest of the music are just as awesome....

You can tell by the lines in my smile that i have been around for a while.
UNA GRANADA DE LUZ MUSICAL!!!!
TIENE UNA SENSIBILIDAD TREMENDA EL DISCO Y EL DISEÑO DEL DISCO ES FORMIDABLE. CUETA MUCHO HABLAR MAL DEL DISCO SIENDO FANATICO, PERO ES MUY BUENO AL MEJOR ESTILO "MAKE YOURSELF", LAS LETRAS DE ESTE DISCO SUPERA A TODOS LOS ANTERIORES. COMO DIJO BRADON EN "PISTOLA" ESTA VES SU LAPICERA FUE UNA PISTOLA....
One of the very few honest comments you Incubus will get here...
as if they'd care, i'm giving the following comment with love and deep appreciation to this wonderful band-
I find it extreemly disappointing seeing all these teenage fans admiring Brandon Boyd just for his indeed amazing looks instead of admiring him for the music or at least Mike E. for his awsome compositions etc.
One of the things drawned me the most about Incubus from the first place, about 9 years ago when I first got to listen to S.C.I.E.N.C.E was their non-conformistic att. Later on when I discovered their unbelievable masterpiece Fongus Amongus (which was assumingly their actual first album) I just fell in love with this band. It actually used to feel like they cared about music and lyrics and their quality audience (yup, i'm so modest:)) so much more than what sells and what's not.
I still follow Incubus' new albums and if they'd ever go back to Israel I would def. get a ticket in a heart beat. Hopefully the right person might read this crap and maybe listen. I seriously doubt it though...
Peace and love
your no. 1 fan in Israel for the past decade

Love all you guys!!!! FOREVER
I give this album a 4.5 over 5, because a pair of songs are rated in 4 for me.. generally love all track..
I can´t wait for a new album...
Light Grenades
I really give this a 3.5 because I just can't fall in love with album. The reason for this is because I have listened to Morning View, Make Yourself, and S.C.I.E.N.C.E. religiously since I first heard Incubus. I love those albums so much and this album is so different, not necessarily in a good way. I can't help but feel like Incubus is complying with the status quo of modern rock. Incubus always broke the mold of rock by adding a funky bass and the turntables, but that precious rebellion is lacking in this album, strongly lacking. "Dig" and "Anna Molly" are pretty good, "Dig" especially, they have shades of the Incubus of Old. "Dig" has an other-wordly feeling that fits in with "Stellar" from Make Yourself. "Anna Molly" has a "passionate anger" that is shown in tracks like "Pardon Me" and "Warning", from Make Yourself and Morning View respectively. While "Dig" and "Anna Molly" have shades of those other masterpieces, they are not quite there. I hope that Brandon and the guys go back to their old ways. I want Mike to dive back into the riffs that haunt me like in "Just a Phase" and "Echo". I want Brandon's lyrics to throw me into a new world like "Aqueous Transmission" and "Consequence". I want Ben's bass to go back to the funk that was in "Deep Inside" and "Are You In", even if he wasn't part of the band then. Jose has always been an incredible drummer and he still shows his dominance in the later albums. DJ Kilmore needs to really go crazy in a couple of songs like "Battlestar Scralatchtica". Please I beg you, go back to the old Incubus, we deserve to hear those tripped out jams, with those incredible ballads. We want to fall in love with you, but go back to the band that we loved.
Incubus still the best :p
I don't think that this is the best incubus' album .
And incubus still the best
Anyway, I like it

im sarah joyce lopez die hard fan of incubus!!!
ang pagiging rakista ko wala sa porma sa hilig ko lamang isinasagawa..
simply incubus
I must say Light Grenades is on of my favorites CD from Incubus... It is different from the others but in spite of other artists, they has been able to evolve with their own style.
I have listened all of the other Cds and work like "Morning View" makes this band unique, but i belive once again they have proven themselves and make this beautiful work.
What i love the most about this cd is the space that with each song they have made for each and every one of us, and every lyric is full of truth...
I feel I can identify with every lyric in one moment or another and every time I listen to it i find something new about it and makes me love it even more.

The Incubus Sound
I still consider this as one of their greatest masterpiece and I think this album is terrific. The great thing with this band is that Their music is evolving from one album to another and yet they still maintain what they are calling the "Incubus Sound" which makes their songs very distinct and unique. I would still consider Light Grenades as a heavy one because of the songs A kiss to send us off, Anna Molly, Pendolous Threads, Earth to Bella I and Rogues. It does not only penetrate the listeners through the good mix of musical instruments played together but it would also made you reflect and be touched by the lyrics of the songs in this album which I think is very "Philosophical" with the way that it is written and to the message that it sends. All in all, Light Grenades is a complete package that will make fans and listeners have what they need.
the incredible trip
When I bought my new Incubus album i was not expecting too much.I was not listening their music too much and i had no notices about this new album.I just bought it because it was incubus. My first audition was in my car, in the parking at the shopping mall. All i was thinking about the album dissapeared in the early seconds of quicksand with envolving vocals and great harmony. And my mind started to be full with thoughts and ideas. The cd keep playing and more good surprises appears.the punch on my stomach in "a kiss to send us off", the contagious "anna molly", and the extremely beautiful ballad "love hurts".For sure, Light Grenades is one the bests albums i ever heard.and i can say that will be for a long time. This album is not good for the incubus lovers, but this is much more general, this album is dedicated for everyone who thinks that music can really change the life of a person.
AWESOME!!!!
their music evolve in a unique ways that make thier fans love it, the maturity and uniqueness is very emphasized and these guys make great job of doing it....a very talented band, that shows orginality with their music and no matter what, i'm your no. 1 fan....good luck guys!!!!
Great!
Im actually glad that even though incubus changed, they actually imprved alot since lets say science, im not saying thats its a bad album, but I belive that this album is much more elaborated and in a way much better.
Dig Has become an hymn for my relationship with my friends, and every person I showd this song has become emotionaly attached to it. Earth to bella I think its great. Oil and water and paper shoes arethe example of what I was going through when I bought the album.
Id recomend it to anyone that like incubus, specially the people that became fans after the album make yourself.
